hr2 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 First, a salute to all forum members. My name is Cyrus, I am writing from Naples (Italy). Are about to buy the TAD Reference One, I wondered what was the best amplifier for TAD. I do a few tests I made with my current amp Vitus SS 101, but it seemed a pairing that works well, the Tad you with what you have heard the amp speak up? Still greet you all thanks. Ps sorry my horrible English. Quote
Timbre™ Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 iBuon pomeriggio e Benvenuto hr2! Your English is far better than my Italian so let's take it in English... First we have an arrangement by the Swedish distributor of TAD speakers. As you can see there is a pair of Audionet monoblocks per channel and visiting listeners seemed to be very impressed from what I could read in a forum report. Some years ago the TAD speakers were demonstrated in Stockholm. This time controlled by a pair of this Mark Levinson No. 53 and that was an interesting combination! Without comparisons impossible to know if it's the best... Quote
Bebop Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Hi, Starting here and some pages ahead, you can see how TAD was set up at the Münich show 2009. It was fantastic Quote

calle_jr Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Yes, they used two pairs of AudioNET Max mono blocs. If you look at this picture, you see the Big Chief sitting in the sofa (glasses and beige T-shirt). I know he doesn't look like that unless it sounds good Quote

Kraudio Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Probably the best amp. for TAD Ref1 is the TAD M600 mono amp. I heard the set up in Munich 2010, it was awsome :mm: :mm: Kraudio Quote

Kraudio Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 To my knowledge a set up of TAD M600 + Ref1 could in a couple of weeks be heard at Ultimate Sound & Music, Vimmerby - Sweden. Authorised dealer for TAD - Europe. For further info get in contact with: jorgen@ultimate.se Tel. +46702073030 (Jörgen Nilsson) Kraudio Quote
calm Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I heard the TAD speaker several times now. I really like them and it´s out of question one of The Great Speaker in the World. The constructor a nice englishman has been present at all demonstrations I had taken part of. In Stockholm twice and in Denver at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. The electronics I heard is: Audionet Mark Levinson TAD:s own amplifier and a set of Bel Canto. I say that the one I prefeer is TAD:s own electronics. Of course the recordings used at that demonstration where at it´s absolutly best. With masterrecordings that where the best I ever heard direct out of a Studer studio taperecorder. So the comparison probebly isn´t really fair. But ever so I was not so pleased with the Audionets. It could depend on the room where the demonstration took place. So I will go for the Levinson or the TAD´s and test the properly. Good luck! Calm Quote

I I have heard here in Italy, great speaker, but no one had the impression to some that lacked transparency and that is heard a bit dark? Quote
calm Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Thank you. I I have heard here in Italy, great speaker, but no one had the impression to some that lacked transparency and that is heard a bit dark? I like the transparency but also the dynamics that is very fast and also thru to the material that´s played. A speaker i easely could live with fore a long time, just like my SF Amatis. So full of life and musicality. Calm Quote

calle_jr Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 no one had the impression to some that lacked transparency and that is heard a bit dark? I wouldn't say so at all, but that is totally up to your (p)references. Quote
ukiro Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 A speaker may initially be percieved as dark when in fact it's just free of distortion, resonances etc in the high end. Once you get accustomed to the new and purer sound, you will probably hear even more detail than in other speakers, but with none of the artifacts that commonly cause listening fatigue. This is something I experienced with my own speakers, which also have beryllium membranes. Quote

To my way of listening to music, the transparency parameter is very important, or Tad heard many times, and though being a great speaker, it seemed a bit lacking in this parameter, but maybe it was just an impression. calle_jr Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Sorry I did not understand because you can re-explain No problem. If you feel it is dark and lacking in transparency from your first impression, I think you will not stop thinking about that until you compare it yourself. To my way of listening to music, the transparency parameter is very important, or Tad heard many times, and though being a great speaker, it seemed a bit lacking in this parameter It's a big and reveiling speaker. What type of electronics did you use and what did the room look like? Quote
